Changes and files

See what your agents changed: Git status, diffs and history, the file tree with previews, and quick edits to text files. Git stays read-only.

The Files and Git panel shows what changed in the folder of the active session: Git status, diffs, history and the files themselves. You review the work of your agents without leaving Kanbell. Git in Kanbell is read-only: you commit with your agent or your usual tools.

Open the panel

  1. Press ⌘5 (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+5) to open the Files and Git panel on the right.
  2. Press ⌘⇧5 (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+6) to expand it.
  3. Press ⌘⇧E (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+D) to go straight to the Files tab.

The panel follows the folder of the active session. It has three tabs: Changes, History and Files.

Review what changed

  1. Open Changes to see the Git status and the diffs, staged and unstaged.
  2. Open History to see the commit log. Select a commit to see its diff.
  3. Look at the status bar for the current branch and how far it is ahead of or behind its remote.

Commit outside Kanbell

Kanbell shows Git, it does not change it. There is no commit, stage, push or worktree feature. To commit, ask your agent in its terminal, or use the Git tools you already use.

Browse the files

  1. Open Files. The tree shows Git letters next to changed files.
  2. Turn on Show Hidden Items to see hidden files and folders.
  3. Select a Markdown file, a PDF or an image to preview it.

Edit a text file

You can edit existing text files directly in the app. If the file changed on disk while you were editing, Kanbell warns you before you overwrite it.

Open the project in VS Code

Click Open in VS Code. If the project would auto-run tasks when VS Code opens it, Kanbell warns you first.

Good to know

  • The Git panel needs Git 2.45 or newer.
  • The panel shows the folder, whatever agent works in it: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or a shell.
