Let your agent install it

Paste this into Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI. It installs Kanbell, checks your setup and explains what the app does.

Install Kanbell on this machine, then explain to me what it does.

Kanbell is a desktop app for running several terminal coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI) side by side: one terminal per agent, grouped under its project, a task board per project, and a signal the moment an agent waits for an answer. No account, no server: everything stays on this machine.

1. Detect the OS and the CPU.
   - macOS on Apple Silicon: download https://github.com/0x2e73/kanbell-releases/releases/latest/download/Kanbell.dmg, mount it, copy Kanbell.app to /Applications, eject the image, then open the app.
   - Ubuntu or Debian (amd64 or arm64): run `dpkg --print-architecture`, download kanbell_1.5.2_<arch>.deb and SHA256SUMS-linux from https://github.com/0x2e73/kanbell-releases/releases/tag/v1.5.2-linux, check it with `sha256sum --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS-linux`, then `sudo apt install ./kanbell_1.5.2_<arch>.deb`.
   - Anything else (Windows, Intel Mac…): stop and tell me Kanbell doesn't run there yet.
2. Check that git 2.45 or later is installed, and tell me which agents (claude, codex, gemini) are on the PATH.
3. Explain in 5 short points what Kanbell does and how to start: add a project folder, start an agent, answer it when it waits.

[01] Why Kanbell

Seven terminals open. Which one needs you?

Running several agents in plain terminals breaks in three places. Kanbell fixes each one.

An agent waits. Nobody sees it.

Today

You switch to the browser for a minute. Behind it, an agent asked a question an hour ago and has done nothing since. A terminal never tells you.

With Kanbell

The moment an agent asks, needs a permission or finishes, you know, wherever you are.

  • A system notification, and a badge on the menu bar icon and the Dock.
  • Answer Claude Code’s questions from the menu bar panel, without opening the terminal.
  • “Finished · to review” keeps a done agent in sight until you look.
How it works →

Every tab says zsh. Which project is this?

Today

With five projects and twelve terminals, you read scrollback to remember which repo, which branch and which task each one is on.

With Kanbell

Each agent lives under its project, named after its task, with its state beside it.

  • Projects in the sidebar, each with its color, its sessions and its board.
  • The Overview puts every agent of every project on one screen.
  • Subagents, tokens and usage limits, live, for each session.
How it works →

The tasks live in another app.

Today

One more Trello or Linear per project, and every task copied by hand into a prompt.

With Kanbell

Each project has its own board, and an agent starts on a task in one click.

  • Kanbell starts the agent and pastes the task into its prompt. You press Enter.
  • Agents read the board, create tasks and move their own.
  • Already on GitHub or GitLab? Their issues show up on the board.
How it works →

[02] The loop

From task to diff, without leaving the window.

The board: launching an agent on task #128, Rate-limit uploads.

[04] Integrations

Works with the tools you already use.

Nothing to migrate. Point Kanbell at a folder and it picks up your agents, your git and your issues.

  • Claude CodeFull tracking: working, waiting, subagents, tokens, usage.
  • CodexWorking, waiting, tokens and usage limits, without the subagent tree.
  • Gemini CLIWorking, waiting, permission requests and tokens.
  • GitHubA repository’s issues on the project board: create, move, comment.
  • GitLabgitlab.com or your own instance, issues on the board.
  • gitChanges, history and diffs of every project folder.

[05] Advantages

Built for developers who run many agents.

  • Your code stays on your machine

No account, no Kanbell server, no telemetry. The app talks to Polar for the license and to GitHub for updates.

  • Your agents, your subscription

Kanbell runs the real CLI you already pay for. Usage stays on your account.

  • Real terminals

Nothing is hidden or rewritten: every key goes to the agent, as in your usual terminal.

  • Ready in a minute

Install, add a project folder, start an agent. No config file to write.

  • Agents that use the board

A small command lets agents read the board, create tasks and move their own.

  • Made for ten at once

States, signals and the Overview are built for many agents across many projects.

[07] FAQ

Which agents are supported?

Claude Code, with full tracking: working, waiting, subagents, usage. Codex: the same, without the subagent tree. Gemini CLI: working, waiting and permission requests; it exposes no quota or subagents. Any other CLI agent runs in the terminals, untracked.

Do I need my own agent subscription?

Yes. Kanbell runs your agent, it doesn't replace it. Usage stays on your account.

Does my code leave my computer?

No account, no Kanbell server. It only contacts Polar (license) and GitHub (updates), and the GitHub or GitLab API if you connect a project.

What happens after 7 days?

Sessions stop launching until you subscribe. Your data is never locked.

What do I need?

An Apple Silicon Mac, or Ubuntu or Debian on amd64 or arm64, and git 2.45+. Full tracking needs Claude Code 2.1.80+.

Windows or Linux?

Linux: yes, a .deb for Ubuntu and Debian. See Install on Linux. A Windows version is in the works. Join the Discord to hear first.
