Sessions

One real terminal per agent, sorted by project: tabs, splits up to four panes, separate windows, profiles for each agent, and resume after a restart.

Each agent gets its own real terminal, filed under the project it works on. You run Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or a plain shell side by side, and you always know which tab belongs to which project.

Why it helps

A row of terminal windows all look the same. After an hour you no longer know which one runs which agent, on which project. Kanbell keeps every session under its project, with a name and a color, so you switch to the right one instead of searching for it.

What you get

  • A real terminal per tab, running one agent or a shell.
  • Splits up to 4 panes (2×2). Drag tabs between panes.
  • Tabs in their own window, and back to the main window when you want.
  • Search in the terminal, text zoom, pasted clipboard images (saved as PNG, the path is pasted) and dropped files (their paths are pasted).
  • Profiles: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Custom command, each with a name, a color, a Launcher (your own wrapper script), arguments and a scope (All projects or This project).
  • Two profiles created on first run: "Claude" (the default) and "Terminal".
  • Starter profiles for a new project: the Three ready-to-use profiles card offers Dev, Reviewer (cannot edit files) and Business (no edit tools, no Bash).
  • Resume after a restart.

How it works

  1. Open a tab with the default profile: ⌘T (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+T). To pick a profile: ⌘⇧T (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+Space).
  2. Split right with ⌘\ (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+\) or down with ⌘⇧\ (Linux: Ctrl+Shift+-).
  3. Move a tab to its own window with Open in New Window, ⌘⌥N (Linux: Alt+N). Bring it back with Move to Main Window, ⌘⌥⇧N (Linux: Alt+R).
  4. Create and edit profiles in Settings › Profiles. Use Set as Default Profile for the one ⌘T opens.
  5. After a restart, sessions come back as finished. Click Resume to continue the conversation.

Works with

Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI have their own profile type. Resume uses --resume for Claude Code and codex resume for Codex. Any other tool runs through a Custom command profile. If that command starts an agent, Kanbell offers Track as {agent} Session.

Good to know

  • Sessions keep running when you change view or project.
  • They stop when you close that project's main window. Kanbell asks first if agents are busy.
  • A pasted image can be 20 MB at most.

Step by step: Sessions.
