Notes
Keep personal notes per project outside the repo, and edit CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md and the repo's docs in place, in one Markdown editor.
Notes gives you two kinds of Markdown in one place. Your own notes stay on your machine, outside the repo. The instructions and docs your agents read, like CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md, are editable right where they live.
Why it helps
Your thoughts on a project don't belong in its repo, but they get lost in a separate notes app. The files that steer your agents sit deep in the folder tree, and you open an editor just to change one rule. In Kanbell both are one shortcut away, next to the agents that use them.
What you get
- My notes: Markdown on your machine, outside the repo. Per project (This project) or shared across all of them (All projects).
- Instructions and Docs:
CLAUDE.md,AGENTS.md,README.md,.claude/rulesanddocs/**from the repo, editable in place. - A live-render editor with a "/" insert menu.
- Outline, Raw Source, search, and Move to Trash.
How it works
- Open Notes with
⌘4(Linux:Ctrl+Shift+4). - Write in My notes. Choose This project or All projects for each note.
- Open Instructions or Docs to edit the repo's files directly.
- Type "/" to insert an element. Switch between preview and editing with
⌘E(Linux:Ctrl+Shift+R). - Use Outline to jump through a long file, or Raw Source to see the plain Markdown.
Works with
Notes works the same whatever agent you run: Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI. The repo files cover both CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md, so each agent's instructions are one click away. Personal notes are for you.
Good to know
- Personal notes are not in the repo, so they are not committed with it.
- Repo files are edited in place: the changes land in your working folder.
- A repo file can be edited up to 1 MB.
Step by step: Notes.
